1st February 2008 - Kaliningrad

Crossed into Kaliningrad 10.30am local time (9.30 in the UK).

Had our first taste of real border controls, not too bad really, two hours filling in the forms (5 times!!). Once across the border it was time to find some diesel and work out a route round Kaliningrad... After going straight into Kaliningrad center which was chaos, we used the GPS and navigated our way out!!

Patsy from J.Wright and Sons who provided the trailer for transporting the tracks and floatation equipment has been in touch, Ivor Williams have recommended a recall for the trailer due to a fault with the wheels, we have checked them out and our trailer appears to be fine

Thanks to Helen from the Adventure Club who has been in contact with news about the Polish border guards striking we got out of Poland ok so hopefully this won't cause us any issues

We have found a place to stay for the night with a warm room, food and secure parking with 24hr guard which is great and cold showers which aren't so great!! The Russians here can't believe what we are doing!!! After that shower neither can I!!
